History of the Gimlet Cocktail

Even though there is absolutely no proof to support the story that the Gimlet cocktail was created by a naval officer, there was a Doctor Rear-Admiral Sir Thomas Desmond Gimlette (1857-1943) in the Royal Navy, when cocktail drinks started to become popular. Obviously there's absolutely nothing to state he definitely did not develop the gimlet, and a naval medical officer could, obviously have access to gin and lime juice.
