History of the Kamikaze Cocktail
The forerunner of the "Kamikaze" was made around 1974 by a bartender called Liam, who worked at the Eliot Lounge ( today closed ) in down-town Boston. Liam included a bit triple sec to a lot of vodka, and then splashed in a couple of drops of Rose's Lime Juice and shook the beverage. He initially served his brand new cocktail in a beer mug. He called it after him self, naming it a "Liam".
The Eliot Lounge was a well known place for runners, the media and the spectators of the Boston Marathon. A person from Smirnoff Vodka must have been drinking at Liam's bar because many years later his cocktail was included in an commercial for Smirnoff. They had changed the name , naming it a "Kamikaze".
