Garrison Brothers is set to unveil their newest bourbon expression, Lady Bird, which is infused with Texas wildflower honey and finished in a cognac cask.
According to a statement from the distiller, the much-anticipated debut of Lady Bird will take place on Saturday, May 6th, at their Lone Star distillery. The bourbon will then be available on shelves nationwide starting mid-May.
This new expression has been eight years in the making, making it Garrison Brothers' ninth addition to their esteemed bourbon portfolio. Notably, a portion of the sales from Lady Bird will go towards supporting the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, furthering their efforts in environmental conservation.
Lady Bird Bourbon begins its journey by being aged for four years in new white American oak barrels, before being infused with Burleson's Texas Wildflower Honey for an eight-month period. It is then transferred to French XO Cognac casks, where it matures for an additional three years, resulting in a 114 proof bourbon that is hand-sealed with a distinct "Prairie Purple" wax. The initial release will see 5,904 bottles made available to the market.
Donnis Todd, master distiller at Garrison Brothers, describes the sensory experience of Lady Bird Bourbon, stating that upon opening a bottle, "You'll be greeted by the aroma of freshly cut grass and sweet honey, accompanied by subtle notes of black cocoa waffle cone and honey wafers, creating a warm and enticing experience." Todd further elaborates on the palate, noting flavors of warm buckwheat pancakes, dark chocolate-covered cherries, and malted milk balls.
Nancy Garrison, co-founder of Garrison Brothers Distillery, draws a parallel between the bourbon and her namesake, stating that like Lady Bird, the bourbon exudes beauty, elegance, and distinction wherever it goes.
In addition to its exquisite taste, Lady Bird also contributes to the preservation of native wildflowers and plants across North America through its support of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. For every bottle sold, Garrison Brothers will donate $5 to this non-profit organization, furthering their commitment to environmental conservation.
"We're grateful for the commitment and support provided by Garrison Brothers and for their demonstrated leadership generating awareness about native plants and landscapes," says Lee Clippard, executive director of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
Garrison Brothers Lady Bird Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey will be available for purchase at select retailers nationwide, with a suggested retail price of $179.99, offering bourbon enthusiasts a truly unique and philanthropic addition to their collection.
