National prohibition became possible in 1920 after the required number of state legislatures passed the Eighteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. In the belief that it would shield families, women, and children from the evils of alcohol misuse, many women, particularly members of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, were instrumental in bringing about national Prohibition in the United States. The average adult white American guy consumes roughly a half pint of whiskey per day around 1820.
Full proof for full flavor. An honest Pre-Prohibition style bourbon.
2021 San Francisco Double Gold award winner, Cleveland Underground™ Bourbon Whiskey Finished with Cherry Wood delivers a unique rich textured and well-rounded bourbon with light flavor from the cherry wood with a slightly tart, slightly sweet spice note. No added sugar, artificial flavor or preservatives.
Cleveland Whiskey’s Wheat Penny 1958 Bourbon is our first wheated bourbon and it’s finished with black cherry and toasted oak.
Why 1958? 1958 was the last year of the wheat penny. It was the year the World’s Fair featured an electronic computer that demonstrated a knowledge of history. It was the year NASA was created and microchip was invented. The world didn’t know it yet but limits on what we could achieve were being eliminated. We can relate to that.
Crafted from select corn, barley, and a hint of rye, each small batch of Alamo Black Label Bourbon is aged to perfection in brand new American Oak Barrels
Knob Creek Rye is made in small batches, patiently aged in the deepest charred barrels and bottled at a full 100 proof to maintain its big flavor. It’s made of the highest quality rye which gives it a unique spicy, smooth flavor perfect for cocktails. Its high corn mashbill makes it perfect for the bourbon drinker looking to add a rye to their liquor cabinet as it mellows out some of the spicer notes that are commonly found in most ryes.
When it comes to making Knob Creek Bourbon, there's a lot of waiting but hardly any sitting around. While each barrel patiently ages in white oak, our distillers continue to raise the standards, fulfilling their commitment to full flavor. The result? An unflinching balance of deep, pre-Prohibition-style bourbon with a robust oak taste, complemented with hints of smooth vanilla and layered caramel.
